Nutrition - 9th Grade
Overview
This class has 2 parts - lectures on the nutrients in food and actual cooking of food in class. The students will be required to take notes and recopy these notes into their main lesson notebooks. The lectures will cover protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals as the nutrients in food. Cooking will introduce basic skills – food preservation, quick breads, pie making, preparing a roast, bean cookery, white sauce preparation in the making of macaroni and cheese as well as other things. I am also trying to line up a field trip for a wild food meal.
