Development

As we enter our fourteenth academic year our school continues to grow, flourish, and, most importantly, to learn. Parents and students continue to be a vital part, not only of the spirit and governance of our school, but also of its financial stability. The mission of the Youth Initiative High School’s development office is to aid those groups in working to fund the school and to undertake efforts of its own to ensure that this beautiful institution remains on stable financial foundations and is able to grow into the future.
As a school we are very conscious of our membership in a local community and a wider world. We try to teach our students this both in the classroom and in their fundraising work. Our Matching Gift Campaign is an excellent illustration of what can be accomplished through the hard work of the student body and the support of businesses and individuals in our community. Established in 2005-2006 the Matching Gift Circle allows the students of this school to amplify their hard work by partnering with generous members of the community. For every dollar raised by the students in 2009-2010 members of the community have pledged nearly $3 – that’s a total of almost $30,000. If you, your business, or someone you know would like to join our students in being the architects and builders of their own education please contact the Development Office for more information
This year is also the first year that we will be marketing our groundbreaking, cutting-edge, Foods and Nutrition curriculum to public and independent schools. The work of nutritionist and organic farmer Jane Siemon for over a decade, this curriculum studies food from the farm to the table, and the effect of our nutritional habits on our health and happiness. We hope to spread this knowledge to other schools while putting the school on a strong financial footing.
