YIHS Faculty In-service scheduled for Friday August 24, 2007 (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Hello Everyone! I'm sending you a re-cap of July events, closer to the time, as a reminder, because I know that Summertime gets so very busy... During the month of August, we'll be getting some new carpeting in the children's section of the library (hooray!) and also a new coat of paint in the hallway, so programing will resume in Fall.  You can look forward to Monique's visit (wonder what she'll have "cooking"?) and also the extraordinary singers of Tangled Up In Blue, UW Madison's premiere women's a capella group, with music from their upcoming CD. Best of Summer to you all, Cele

Southwest Community Players will present West Side Story: Friday and Saturday July 27-28 at 7:30 and Sunday July 29 at 1:30 at the Richland Center High School Auditorium on Hwy 14. There will also be performances on Friday and Saturday August 3-4 at 7:30 and Sunday August 5 at 1:30. YIHS students and faculty in the production include Rebecca Smith, John
Madden and Forest Humphrey. The show has professional choreography for the dance numbers, a live orchestra and a dynamic cast under the direction of Andrew Sharp. In West Side Story the classic story of Romeo and Juliet is rewritten for gang warfare in New York in the fifties with
the original music by Leonard Bernstein and the original director Jerome Robbins was also the choreographer. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. There are 50 young people from 13 to 22 and 4 adults in the cast who have been working 5 days a week since early June and the rehearsals are looking quite  professional.  There are several very talented performers anchoring the show.  Clara Solinger plays Maria; Alex Chicker plays Riff;  Paul Hibberd plays Bernardo; Liz Cejpek plays Anita; and Todd Keller plays Tony and Andrew Cox(from Cockney Americans) plays Action.   Don't miss it....tonight, tonight won't be just any night.....
