Graduation Planning Meeting. Graduation planning update: There was a discussion at our last meeting as to who plans graduation. It was said that last year a "tradition" was begun for the juniors to plan graduation for the seniors. A very nice gesture, indeed. We decided that due to the lack of time to organize, that for this year we would carry on with what has been started and involve those juniors and parents who can or wish to help-we hope it is many of you!! All senior and junior parents and students who wish to be involved in graduation plans, please mark your calendar for the next meeting: April 17, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at YIHS.
Bread and Puppets. The puppeteers were very thankful for the help the students gave in setting up and taking down and in doing the publicity. All the events this weekend were well-attended and, from the feedback I heard, well-received. Thanks to you and the entire YIHS community for your help in putting this fun weekend together. May their spirit embolden our own! -Shawn

March 31, 2007. Dear YIHS community, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Ben and Julee Agar, Anna Jo Doerr and all the YIHS students who participated in the Guatemala adventure. I felt very honored to be part of this community, once again, and to be able to introduce the group to my friends in Chacula. I can tell you with all honesty that this student group represented YIHS as well as the Kickapoo Valley extremely well. They were enthusiastic learners, openhearted and flexible travelers, and full of interest and good humor. It is always very important to me that we travel through Guatemala lightly and with respect. I was proud of the group and delighted to accompany them on part of their journey. On March 28th I brought our recently returned accompanier to speak to the students at YIHS. Beth Sanders gave a moving and informative presentation and all the students were very respectful, interested and attentive. She was very impressed by their interest and questions and thoroughly enjoyed her interactions at the school. Again, I was happy and proud to be part of this community. I continue to be very grateful to have the opportunity to share my experience and commitment in Guatemala with our community. Thank you all for your support for this endeavor! In gratitude, Connie Vanderhyden Driftless Folk School March and April Classes Schedule.
